24.1.2025 | On 24 January 2025, the President of the Republic appointed Rear Admiral, Doctor of Military Sciences Tom Hanén as Deputy Chief of the Finnish Border Guard for the period from 1 February 2025 to 31 December 2027.

25.11.2024 | The President of the Republic has promoted Rear Admiral Markku Hassinen to Vice Admiral as from 1 January 2025. Hassinen takes up the office of Chief of the Finnish Border Guard on 1 January 2025. Since 1 October 2019, Hassinen has served in his current position as Deputy Chief of the Finnish Border Guard. Hassinen completed the General Staff Officer’s Degree in 1997 and was promoted to Rear Admiral on 21 March 2019.
