Promotions among the general officers of the Finnish Border Guard as from 6 December 2024 and 1 January 2025
The President of the Republic has promoted Rear Admiral Markku Hassinen to Vice Admiral as from 1 January 2025. Hassinen takes up the office of Chief of the Finnish Border Guard on 1 January 2025. Since 1 October 2019, Hassinen has served in his current position as Deputy Chief of the Finnish Border Guard. Hassinen completed the General Staff Officer’s Degree in 1997 and was promoted to Rear Admiral on 21 March 2019.
The President of the Republic has promoted Commodore Tom Hanén to Rear Admiral as from 6 December 2024. Hanén has served in his current position as Head of the Personnel Division of the Border Guard Headquarters since 1 January 2020. Hanén completed the General Staff Officer’s Degree in 2005 and was promoted to Commodore on 1 January 2020.
The President of the Republic has promoted Colonel Mika Rytkönen to Brigadier General as from 1 January 2025. Rytkönen takes up the office of Head of the Border and Coast Guard Division of the Border Guard Headquarters on 1 January 2025. Rytkönen has served in his current position as Commander of the Southeast Finland Border Guard District since 1 December 2022. Rytkönen completed the General Staff Officer’s Degree in 2003 and was promoted to Colonel on 21 March 2017.
