The Finnish Border Guard uses a secure email service. Via the secure email service, you can send the Finnish Border Guard email messages containing confidential or sensitive information, as well as receive such email messages from us. Please do not send, for instance, your social security number or documents containing a large number of personal data as a regular email or via an electronic form.

The use of the secure email service does not require software installations. In practise, only a link to the secure email message is provided.

An Internet browser is required for sending a secure email message. The use of the service requires that you register your email address in the service.

Register in the electronic service

  1. Go to the address https://securemail.raja.fi and enter your email address.
  2. You will receive an email from [email protected] with the title ‘Rekisteröinti Rajan palveluun’ (Registration in the Finnish Border Guard’s service). The email contains a hyperlink. It you cannot find the email in your inbox, please check your spam folder.
  3. Send your confidential or sensitive documents via the said hyperlink. The link is valid for 30 days, where after you need to re-enter your email address at https://securemail.raja.fi. Then, the system will send you a new link.
