The Border Museum is open to the public during summer season. In autumn and winter the Border Museum is open only on selected days. 

Border Museum opening hours in summer 2026 

Opening hours from Tuesday to Friday 

The Border Museum is open from 9 June to 9 August, from Tuesday to Friday, between 10am and 5pm.

Museum tours last approximately an hour and a half. The guided part lasts for 30–45 minutes, whereafter you have the opportunity to familiarise yourself with the exhibition independently. The tours start at 10am, 12am, 2pm and 3.45pm.

  • the date of arrival,
  • as well as the tour you would like to participate in.
  • Please, wait for a confirmation from the Border Museum.

When you arrive at the Border Museum, please present your ID or driving licence, if you are an adult. The museum staff will meet you at the entrance of Immola garrison area on Niskapietiläntie. 

Opening hours on weekends

If you visit us on the weekend, a prior registration is not required. 
The Border Museum is open on weekends as follows

  • Saturday 30 May at 10am–3pm (opening of the summer season, plenty of entertainment at the museum)
  • Saturday 13 June at 10am–3pm
  • Saturday 4 July at 10am–3pm
  • Saturday 25 July at 10am–3pm
  • Sunday 9 August at 11am–4pm, when the Border Museum participates in the Museum Road Day. Museum Road Day - Finnish Local Heritage Federation

The Border Guard canteen is open on Saturday 30 May and 13 June, as well as on Sunday 9 August.
