New Chief of Division for Technical Division in January 2027

The President of the Republic confirmed Colonel Jaakko Olli’s appointment to Border Guard General’s post and assignment as Chief of Technical Division at the Border Guard Headquarters for the period 1 January 2027–31 December 2030.

The Border Guard General’s post and the position of Chief of Technical Division at Border Guard Headquarters became vacant, as Major General Jari Tolppanen retires on 31 December 2026. Military posts of the Border Guard can be filled without announcing a vacancy.

Currently, Colonel Jaakko Olli serves as Commander of the Southeast Finland Border Guard District. Olli has been in this position since 1 January 2025. Previously, Olli has been Head of Planning and Finance Unit at Border Guard Headquarters, as well as Chief of Border Control and Readiness Unit of Border and Coast Guard Division. He completed the General Staff Officer’s Degree in 2009 and was promoted to Colonel on 21 March 2021. 

Colonel Jaakko Olli will be promoted to Brigadier General on 1 January 2027.
